Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (the best player to ever play basketball, imho) has an outdated idea to go back to a more “Wooden-esque” basketball era for UCLA. It is clear that the system is broken at UCLA and they are a joke for the (easy) Pac-12 conference. 

I think that instead of trying to embrace the grit and virtue of the Wooden basketball system they should focus on hiring new, cerebral coaches that can thrive on the seedy underbelly of the NCAA while also not compromising their basketball coaching styles.

Shaka Smart anyone? 

Also, Kareem is constantly forgotten as on of the best players to play the game. This was highlighted when Shaq congratulated Kobe in a recent tweet: “Congrats to Kobe for being the greatest laker ever thanks for making us the greatest laker one two punch ever and congrats on passin me up 2.” Shaq tweeted that when Kobe moved up on the all-time NBA scoring list to number five, passing Shaq. 

The media has been focused on if Kobe has the ability to reach the number one spot…held by Abdul-Jabbar…who spent the majority of his life as…a Los Angeles Laker.
